Elrich: Hogan’s Announcement to Ease Restrictions Was A ‘Surprise’

Gov. Larry Hogan’s announcement today that the state was easing restrictions and moving to Phase 3 “has again taken us by surprise,” tweeted County Executive Marc Elrich.

With 97 new cases of COVID-19 in the county today and with no time to review Hogan’s order, Elrich tweeted that the county will take time to think it over before announcing when to move on to Phase 3, adding, “We will continue to follow the data and science in Montgomery County.”

Hogan said that Maryland counties have the power to decide when to move to Phase 3, but that he believes the state is ready for all businesses to reopen.
