The Diamond Elementary School (DES) PTA is requesting community support for its petition to name and dedicate the school’s Media Center for retiring principal Carol R. Lange. The beloved principal has worked for Montgomery County Public Schools for 26 years.
“The school will miss Mrs. Lange’s leadership, presence and everyday touch at the school and in our community,” said Diamond Elementary School parent Beth Kennington. “She is a champion among school principals, leaving a diverse school of students who have mastered the educational curricula in their formative years due to her leadership.”
Kennington said the petition drive’s minimum goal is 500 signatures, but she said organizers would be delighted to get to 1,000.
A farewell reception for Ms. Lange, who began her career as a media/library assistant, is scheduled for June 12 from 4 – 6 p.m. at the school’s blacktop. Diamond Elementary is located at 4 Marquis Drive in Gaithersburg.
