Department of Liquor Control Sales Climb on St. Patrick’s Day

This year’s St. Patrick’s Day was a profitable one for the Montgomery County Department of Liquor Control.

The DLC reported a 65 percent increase in sales increase this year over last year’s holiday, according to a statement from the county agency. Landing on a Friday this year, DLC stores sold $668,169.29 on St. Patrick’s Day compared to $404,382.69 on March 17, 2016. The agency served more than 5,000 more customers.

In the statement, DLC Director Robert Dorfman said county stores put a larger focus on service and product knowledge, and they promoted Irish whiskies, bourbons and ryes.

The DLC operates 26 stores generating $33 million for county services.
