Davis Branch Library Reopens in Bethesda

Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett was joined by Councilmember George Levanthal and Director of Libraries, Parker Hamiltion, for a ribbon cutting ceremony to announce the reopening of Montgomery County Public Libraries’ Davis Branch in Bethesda, according to a news release.
The Davis Branch closed in 2016 to be refreshed under the County’s Library Refurbishment Level-of-Effort initiative in its Capital Improvement Program. Improvements to the library include a new circulation and information desks, enhancements to the lower level public restrooms, replacement of furniture in the adult and children’s reading room areas and a seating area in the cafe.
“The refresh of the Davis Branch Library was overdue, “Leventhal, chair of the Health and Human Service Committee, said. “These upgrades will provide an enhanced experience for our visitors while also allowing the County to address ADA [American with Disabilities Act] compliance issues.”
The cost for the Davis refresh project was approximately $1.4 million.
Funding for the project was provided by the County Library Capital Grant Program, Maryland State Department of Education and the Division of Library Development and Services.
