For the fifth year in a row, Montgomery County has been recognized for its data-driven management and reporting efforts with a Certificate of Excellence in Performance Management by the International City/Council Management Association (ICMA), according to a news release.

“I am proud that the hardworking employees of our County Government continue to be recognized for their demonstrated leadership in the pursuit of transformational solutions to the improvement of the performance of the programs and services we offer to our residents and businesses,” Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett released in a statement.  “It is an honor to receive this award from the International City/County Management Association to recognize our efforts.”

Certificates are awarded at three levels: achievement, distinction and excellence which is the highest level of recognition.

“Performance management is a bedrock principle of professional local government management,” said Marc Ott, executive director for ICMA.  “By recognizing these leaders, ICMA hopes to encourage others to make a commitment to collect and analyze data, report it transparently, and use it to continuously engage their communities and improve their organizations.”

Montgomery County is among 25 jurisdictions receiving the Certificate of Excellence, and one of 57 recognized overall.

ICMA will officially recognize recipients at its 103rd Annual Conference in San Antonio, Texas this October.
