County Executive Ike Leggett Signs Tenant-Landlord Bill (PHOTOS)
Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett signed a bill that will improve landlord and tenant relations. The bill would require more inspections and the publication of certain information related to rental property.
“Tenants are not going to have to rely on their willingness to complain because the more inspections you get, the less it becomes you versus the landlord,” said Councilmember Marc Elrich, who was the lead sponsor of this bill. “Tenants will not have to choose between safe and decent housing or a roof over their head. Nobody should be in the position to say if I ask for something then I might jeopardize me staying here.”
County Councilmember Nancy Navarro co-sponsored the bill.
