Leggett Releases Proposed Operating Budget (Photos & Video)
Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett has unveiled his nearly $5 billion operating budget for fiscal year 2015 on March 17.
According to Leggett, the recommnended budget funds education beyond what is required by the State Maintenance of Effort Level law to meet future needs created by the escalating number of Montgomery County Public Schools students, puts more police on the beat and reduces the county’s property tax.
Leggett met with several County Councilmembers in his 2nd floor conference room before formally releasing the budget to the public at a news conference televised live from the County Executive Building on March 17.
It was standing room only at Leggett’s noon news conference as department heads and many other county employees were on hand for his announcement, which was broadcast live on Montgomery Channel 21 as well as several other channels.
