County Council Recognizes Black History Month (VIDEO)
The Montgomery County Council recognized February as Black History Month today by paying tribute to this year’s national theme of “Crisis in Black Education.”
Many long-time residents of the County, who grew up in the one-time historically black communities of Montgomery, were present to recall their experiences attending segregated schools—and eventually seeing more educational opportunities for them and ensuing generations.

You should have included Stewartown and Emory Grove. My Mother, Virgie Stewart Prather is 91 years old and still a resident of Stewartown. Her brother, Richard Stewart lives on the on the very property where their family home once Stood. My mother and brother also have a history with Lincoln Park. There is a community day held at Stewartown Park in June this year, I believe.
