Council Expands Property Tax Credit for Surviving Spouses of Retired Military Members
The Montgomery County Council voted unanimously on Tuesday to expand the property tax credit for surviving spouses of retired military service members. To be eligible for the credit, a person needs to be a surviving spouse of a retired member of the uniformed services, who’s at least 65 years old and hasn’t remarried. Eligible people can apply for the credit on the Department of Finance’s website by October 1.
Councilmember Craig Rice was a lead sponsor on the bill, along with Vice President Sidney Katz.
