Council Compiling List of Unfunded Projects and Programs

As projects fight for fiscal 2016 funding during a tight budget year, the Montgomery County Council is keeping it annual “reconciliation list” of line items waiting in the wings for a shot at some cash.County Council 2015 450x280.fw

As of Wednesday afternoon, a partial list of operating budget tracking by committee shows a total of $21 million on that list. According to a county official, that’s typical for this point in the budget process.

But, Councilmember Marc Elrich said he isn’t hopeful many get funded.

“I think it is going to be very tough to do the reconciliation list, certainly to do all of it,” he told MyMCMedia.

He said he would like to see at least the requests of about $11 million from Montgomery College funded. Much of that funding is for staff salary pay increases.

“That is the thing that is about fundamental fairness,” Elrich said.

Below, is a list of projects so far on that list. The full reconciliation list from Committees will be available online on Friday afternoon. The Council will decide on May 14, which items from the list it will fund.
