A Montgomery County Council Committee will learn more about the status of the Corridor Cities Transitway (CCT) on Monday morning.

The Transportation, Infrastructure, Energy and Environment Committee is scheduled to receive an update on the CCT, which is a planned busway extension from the Shady Grove Metrorail Station north to Clarksburg.

The Committee is chaired by Roger Berliner and includes Councilmembers Nancy Floreen and Tom Hucker.

Phase I of the CCT would extend from Shady Grove to Metropolitan Grove in Gaithersburg.

The last official cost estimate for the CCT was provided in 2012 and was for $545 million. Inflation has increased the cost to approximately $700-800 million. A representative of the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) will attend the work session.

Earlier this year, the City of Gaithersburg received an update on the project. You can find out more about that meeting in this MyMCMedia Extra.
