Churchill Girls Basketball Keeps On Rolling

Gaithersburg MD, Thursday, February 14, 2019

Churchill #11 in DMV continues winning ways against Gaithersburg. Jem Genova defended by Irene Haramis of Churchill

Churchill Bulldogs spent their Valentine’s Day evening in Gaithersburg defeating the Trojans 61-29.  This latest win moved them to a 20-1 record. The Bulldogs complete their regular season at home with a game against Richard Montgomery.

Churchill is ranked #11 in the DMV just above long time rival Whitman who is ranked 12th.

In a few weeks the Churchill and Whitman powerhouses will meet again in the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) regional playoffs. Meanwhile Churchill’s outstanding season continues as they showed very little love for Gaithersburg on their senior night.

Leading the scoring for the Bulldogs was Brittini Martin (12), Kamryn Testa (8), Cat Correa (9), and top scorer Parker Hill with 14.  Gaithersburg’s Jada Thorton led all scorers with 16 points, 12 of which were from the 3 point line.  Morgan Brogden added 9 point for the Trojans.  Unfortunately, there was little else help for the Trojans as Thorton and Brogden contributed 25 of the 29 on this evening.

Regular season play ends next week across the county and with end of February comes seeding and positioning for the state playoffs.  Stay tuned as MCM will cover selected playoff games during the playoffs.
