Celebrate Diversity at World of Montgomery Festival in Rockville
It’s a celebration of diversity. The eighth annual World of Montgomery Festival is happening Oct. 16 at Montgomery College in Rockville.
“One-third of the population is foreign born,” said Kaori Hirakawa, program coordinator for Gilchrist Center. “This is a way for the county government to celebrate our diversity.”
The World of Montgomery Festival is held each year in October and participants will experience the county’s diversity through international music, food, dance and art.
Organizers say the event is family friendly. There will be a kid’s museum, a chance to cook and taste different foods and a parade. The parade begins at 1:30 p.m.
“This is a message from the County and government that we respect everyone from everywhere in the world,” said Hirakawa.
Free buses to the World of Montgomery Festival will be available.
