Carlos Núñez at Strathmore (Video)

Free outdoor summer concerts at Strathmore continue on August 7 with the Spanish musician Carlos Núñez at the Gudelsky Concert Pavilion Gazebo, 5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda. The concert begins at 7 p.m. The venue is located across the street from the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro Station. Parking is $5 in the Metro garage. Accessible parking is available on-site on a space available basis. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or low beach chairs.

Known as “The Seventh Chieftain,” beguiling Spanish musician Carlos Núñez plays the gaita, the traditional Galician bagpipe. His unique and amazing folk music showcases his native region of Galicia, in northwest Spain, and the surprising Celtic traditions that thrive there. Expect jigs and reels, played on bodhran, fiddle and pipes with a wonderful Latin flair.

Food is available at the BBQ Shack if you want to enjoy a picnic dinner. BBQ ribs, pulled pork, veggie burgers, hot dogs, side dishes, desserts, soda, water and beer and wine are available for purchase starting at 5:30 p.m.

Check Strathmore website or follow Strathmore on Twitter and Facebook for up-to-the-minute information on weather-related cancellations.

Strathmore is partnering with Hungry for Music, an organization dedicated to providing young people with instruments. Please donate used instruments.
