Blog: Ingleside Announces New Leadership in Memory Support Services

Ingleside, a premier, charitable not-for-profit provider of comprehensive older adult services in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, is pleased to announce Marianna Blagburn, MA, CDP as Director of Memory Support Services and Programming at Ingleside at Rock Creek (IRC) and Maureen Charlton BSW, CVW, CADDCT as Director of Memory Support Services and Programming at Ingleside at King Farm (IKF).

“We are thrilled that Marianna and Maureen have joined Ingleside to help lead our memory support team and to help evolve the program to meet future demand,” said Ingleside’s Chief Operating Officer Christine L. Podles. “Both experts in the field, I am confident that their collaborative efforts and innovative approaches will improve the lives of residents in need of memory support.”

Ingleside takes a person-centered approach to memory care, incorporating the seven dimensions of wellness. Both IKF and IRC communities offer individualized therapeutic programs with music, art, movement, pet and recreational therapy; holistic fitness and well-being programs; technology-based engagement opportunities incorporated into daily life; 24-hour licensed nursing, under the direction of a full time RN; family support, education, and engagement; and social integration with the greater Ingleside community.

Prior to arriving at IRC, Blagburn was the associate director of innovative programming and marketing at a memory care community in Washington, D.C. There she developed an adult day social program for those living at home with neurological decline, and educational programs for staff and other providers on addressing the mental health of adults in assisted living memory support.

Charlton joins IKF with nearly 30 years of experience working with people with dementia and their families and for the Alzheimer’s Association. Most recently, she opened a memory support neighborhood at an assisted living community in Virginia and served there for over three and a half years.

The second neighborhoods of both communities assisted living memory support residences are now taking reservations. Additionally, IKF anticipates re-opening Ingleside Engaged, a social day club for people with dementia-related cognitive impairment, by the end of 2021. Podles noted, “We know that activities play a significant role in the lives of people living with dementia-related cognitive impairment, and we are looking forward to offering this program to the greater Washington, D.C. Metro area.” The community’s second neighborhoods for assisted living memory support residences are now taking reservations.
