Blair Ewing Students Take Part in School’s First Career Day (PHOTOS)

Staff at Blair G. Ewing Center, an alternative school that serves middle school and high school students who are unsuccessful in their home schools, organized the school’s first career day.

“For our students who have made poor choices in the past, this is something to help inspire them, to help motivate them and to get them on the right track to give them a sense of purpose,” Damien Ingram, principal of Blair Ewing said.

To bring in the appropriate career professionals, students expressed their interests to organizers.

Areas of curiosity for students included military, nursing, sales ad social work but the most popular among students was the tattoo artist and the semiprofessional basketball player, Maurice Pearson.

“Today was a great day to inspire MCPS students at Blair G Ewing,” Joseph Hooks, community outreach member from the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office said.  “It was a pleasure to collaborate with people from the community who were raised right here and are now successful to impact students who remind them of themselves.”
