Bethesda’s Katie Ledecky Wins Three National Titles at the Winter National Championships

Keeping Up with Katie: The latest news and information about Olympic champion swimmer and Montgomery County’s own Katie Ledecky.

After her final race at the USA Swimming Winter National Championships, Katie Ledecky won three National titles. The Winter Nationals were held in Greensboro, North Carolina last week from Nov. 28 through Dec. 1.

The Winter Nationals are the start of the qualification period for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials that take place in Omaha, Nebraska, in June 2020. Ledecky was the first to qualify during the Winter Nationals.

Ledecky won the 200-meter freestyle Friday night, earning her third title in three days. She finished in 1 minute 55.32 seconds.

On the second day, Thursday night, Ledecky won the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 4 minutes, 35 seconds.

On opening day of the championships, Ledecky won the 800-meter freestyle by nearly 14 seconds. Her time was 8 minutes, 14.40 seconds.
