Baltimore Man Pleads Guilty to Olney Bank Robbery
A Baltimore man pleaded guilty Tuesday to the February robbery of an Olney bank, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Baltimore.
Tyrone Kevin Gregg, 48, faced a 10-year prison sentence as well as 18 months for violating conditions of his supervised release for earlier charges. The sentences depend on the court accepting the plea agreement, according to the office’s statement.
U.S. District Judge Catherine C. Blake has scheduled sentencing for at 9:15 a.m. March 29. Gregg remains detained.
According to the plea agreement, Gregg entered the bank about 10:50 a.m. Feb. 2, 2017, and told a teller, “Give me all the money or I’ll blow your head off,” the statement said.
The statement did not name the bank.
Gregg’s plea involved the Olney bank, but he also admitted to robbing or trying to rob eight other banks in Maryland and Virginia from December 2016 through June 2017, the statement said.
At the time of the robberies, Gregg was under conditions of supervised release after a 54-month prison sentence imposed by Blake as a result of convictions for conspiracy to commit bank fraud and aggravated identity theft.
As part of his plea agreement, Gregg will be required to pay restitution to the victim banks.
