It’s another sad week in music. We lost another great, Eagles guitarist, Glenn Frey. Frey died at the age of 67 in New York City on Jan. 18 after suffering complications from rheumatoid arthritis, colitis, and pneumonia.
Frey’s family and band members released the following statement:
“Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia.
The Frey family would like to thank everyone who joined Glenn to fight this fight and hoped and prayed for his recovery.
Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us, his family, the music community & millions of fans worldwide.”
Frey co-founded the Eagles with Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner. The band’s influence and popularity surged in the 1970’s with “Hotel California” being the one their biggest hits.
