MoCo Hosts ACC Soccer Championships

Montgomery County is hosting the ACC Men’s Soccer Championship this weekend at the SoccerPlex in Germantown. The games will take place on Friday, November 9 and Sunday, November 11. The Maryland SoccerPlex is located at 18031 Central Park Circle in Boyds. The top-seeded Maryland Terrapins are a finalist so come out and support the Terps!
The top four ACC Men’s Soccer teams will face off in the Semi-Finals on Friday. The double header will feature Virginia and North Carolina at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Clemson-Maryland match-up at 8 p.m. Only two teams will advance to the Final Championship match on Sunday at noon. Friday’s matches will be shown live on ESPN3.
University of Maryland advanced to the Semi-Finals when they beat Virginia Tech at College Park on November 6 with a score 2-1. They face fifth-seeded Clemson next on Friday, November 9 at 8 p.m.

The Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown features 22 professionally maintained, regulation-sized soccer fields. The SoccerPlex offers a combination of playing surfaces with 11 Kentucky bluegrass fields, 7 Bermuda grass fields, 3 synthetic turf fields with lights and a Kentucky bluegrass stadium field with lights and permanent bleacher seating. The SoccerPlex’s Championship Stadium was awarded the prestigious Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA) “Field of the Year” award in 2011.
The SoccerPlex hosts youth leagues, adult leagues, youth tournaments, NCAA Division I college matches and conference championships (ACC), U.S. Open Cup matches (D.C. United), professional and semi-professional women’s matches (D.C. United Women) and a variety of international teams and competitions.
