Mythical Match-Up Standings – Friday Night Lights
Well let me begin by apologizing to any readers that I have miss-lead last week.
The October 5th Friday-Night football games were a non-schedule NULL week for the Mythical Match-Up Challenge (MMU). However, team performance statistical results of games played that weekend will only be used for MMU determinations when there is a non-scheduled week for any team in actual play. The only game that mattered for MMU Challenge standings purposes was the Good Counsel – DeMatha game that GC won by a score of 13 to 10 in what was a defensive contest between both teams.
So now that NULL week game stats are in the books I can publish the Challenge standings after 4 weeks of match up challenge contests.
First the MoCo League
MoCo League
Team | Win | Loss | Total MP |
---|---|---|---|
Winston Churchill (WC) | 3 | 1 | 243 |
Good Counsel (GC) | 2 | 1 | 363 |
Northwest (NW) | 2 | 1 | 248 |
Quince Orchard (QO) | 2 | 2 | 739 |
Seneca Valley (SV) | 2 | 2 | 80 |
Bullis Prep (BU) | 1 | 2 | 264 |
Sherwood (SH) | 1 | 2 | 36 |
Now the METRO League
Team | Win | Loss | Total MP |
---|---|---|---|
Stone Bridge (SB) | 3 | 0 | 126 |
Quince Orchard (QO) | 2 | 1 | 720 |
Good Counsel (GC) | 2 | 1 | 366 |
Friendship Collegiate (FC) | 2 | 1 | 104 |
Old Mill (OM) | 2 | 2 | 780 |
Westfield (WF) | 1 | 3 | 192 |
Wise (WI) | 0 | 4 | 397 |
Note: Total MP (Mythical Points) represents the total tiebreaker points awarded to each team based on total team stats for all match-ups.
Both leagues have a 7 game challenge season over 8 weeks of actual play thus by end of the 8th week all teams will have played 7 games with a bye week fit in between. As a result some teams in either league like Churchill, Seneca Valley, Wise and Old Mill have played 4 with their bye still approaching.
Last week I published the Week 5 schedule – and here it is again – for Match-Ups based on actual play for the week of October 12th.
MoCo Mythical League
Northwest versus Sherwood
Winston Churchill versus Good Counsel
Bullis versus Seneca Valley
Quince Orchard has a BYE
Metro Mythical League
Stone Bridge versus Good Counsel
Friendship versus Westfield
Quince Orchard versus Old Mill
Wise has a BYE
This 5th week in Mythical Match-Up has two very strong teams sitting out with BYE weeks – Quince Orchard and Wise. QO plays Richard Montgomery who is having a winning season at 4 and 2. I saw Richard Montgomery play Kennedy two weeks ago and have a great passing attack, but the QO defense looks nothing like Kennedy’s. I also saw the Puma’s (Wise) in practice the other day and they are big and quick and should have no problem with Parkland. But this is all for naught – since any team statistics will be moot for week 5. That is the way the MMU challenge is played.
Looking around the MoCo League– in actual play first place leader Churchill faces off against Walter Johnson; 2nd place Good Counsel plays at home against McNamara; 3rd place Northwest, who had a great MMU week #4 plays at Watkins Mill; Seneca Valley goes to Blake; Sherwood is at Springbrook; and Bullis plays at St. Stephen/St. Agnes. I look for Good Counsel, Seneca Valley and Bullis to all have good team performance play.
Over in the METRO League – in actual play first place Stone Bridge goes to Falls Church to face George Marshall; 2nd place QO has a challenge week bye and as we know GC plays McNamara; Friendship Collegiate travels to Poly Prep in New York; Old Mill, who got beat up last week by Arundel faces off against Annapolis; Westfield plays West Potomac; and Wise has a BYE week.
The remaining weeks of Mythical Match-Up play include these following dates:
Week #5 – October 12th
Week #6 – October 19th
Week #7 – November 2nd
Null Week – October 5th (NULL)
Tonight I will be at the Magruder versus Clarksburg game covering that event.
On a personal note – last weekend I was participating in a 150-mile bike ride with my cycling group Ride Allegheny and thus have no Friday Night Light photos to share with you this week. I will however share a few from that ride taken by fellow photographer Dave Parrish and myself.
Enjoy the weekend.
GO NATS!!!!
