First Responders Celebrate 2-Year Old Kensington Boy with ‘Heart of Gold’
First responders with Montgomery County Police Department and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services brightened the day of 2-year-old boy from Kensington earlier this week. Several members of the fire and rescue units showed up to celebrate with Conor Kehoe, his family and friends on Monday.
Kehoe was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on Dec. 1, 2020. A GoFundMe page to support Kehoe’s fight against Leukemia has so far raised more than $75,000. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
The GoFundMe page describes Kehoe as having a “heart of gold.”
“This truck loving, gold fish eating, and puppy loving boy does not deserve this horrible disease. He is a little fighter and he is so lucky to have the love and support of everyone around him,” the GoFundMe description says.
According to the American Childhood Cancer Organization, cancer is still the leading cause of death for children in America. Each year, 15,780 children under the age of 19 are diagnosed with cancer in the United States, according to ACCO.
