NWS Issues Flood Warning for Potomac River at Edwards Ferry
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flood warning until 6:49 p.m. for the Potomac River at Edwards Ferry. According to the warning, minor flooding is expected for Edwards Ferry and other areas of the Potomac, including the areas of Paw Paw, Hancock, Dam Number Five, Shepherdstown, Harpers Ferry, Point of Rocks, and Little Falls.
At 9:45 a.m. Friday, the river at Edwards Ferry was 15.7 feet, or 0.7 feet above flood stage. It is expected to crest Friday morning and then recede to below the flood stage Friday afternoon. At 15.0 feet, the boat ramp and lower parking area at Edwards Ferry will be underwater.
