MCPD Investigating Armed Robbery in Silver Spring, Video of Suspect Released
Detectives with the Montgomery County Police Department continue to investigate an armed robbery that happened in the downtown area of Silver Spring last week.
On Monday, July 20, shortly after 5:00 p.m., officers responded to 1200 block of East West Highway. The victim told police that he was outside walking when two suspects approached him. According to a MCPD press release, the one suspect assaulted the victim with a screwdriver while the second suspect stole property before they both fled on foot. The victim was not injured. Officers located the screwdriver in a nearby trash can.
A witness used a cellphone to video record the incident before calling 9-1-1 after the suspects fled. Investigators recently released cell phone video of one of the male suspects, and they are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.
