Maryland has recorded its fifth measles case, this time again in the Baltimore suburbs.

The state Health Department reported the fifth case on Friday.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the nation has recorded 839 cases of the highly contagious disease, the most in 10 years.

In addition to Maryland, states that have recorded measles cases are Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Tennessee and Washington.

The CDC says Maryland also is one of seven states that have measles outbreaks, which are defined as three or more cases. Those states are New York (Rockland County and New York City), Michigan, New Jersey, California (Butte, L.A. and Sacramento counties), Georgia and Pennsylvania.
