MCM’s May Small Business Network: Selling Your Business

Montgomery Community Media’s May Small Business Network (SBN) session was held May 16 in Rockville. The topic of the session was Selling Your Business: How to Create a Buyer through Employee Ownership.

Kelly Leonard moderated a panel of three business leaders comprised of Kevin Beverly of Social & Scientific Systems, David Hincapie of the Small Business Administration, and Grier Melick of Small Business Development Center.

The panel discussed:

  • What employee stock ownership is and how it can help you sell your business
  • Difference between ESOPs and Co-ops
  • How financing is structured
  • What kind of firm is a good candidate
  • Strategies for legacy preservation
