Maryland Terrapin Men Start 2019 at 10-3

COLLEGE PARK, MD: Saturday, December 29

Maryland’s men basketball used second-half play to run past and defeat a determined Radford team on Saturday, December 29 by a score of 78-64.  Maryland will enter the new year with a record of 10-3 (1-1 B1G) to begin conference play on Wednesday, January 2 home against Nebraska.

Freshman Ricky Lindo, Jr and sophomore sensation Bruno Fernando teamed up for 22 rebounds and 27 points (10 & 9 points / 12 & 19 points), respectively, to take command of the area underneath the home basket.  Freshman guard Eric Ayala’s 14 points and sophomore guard Derrick Morsell with 13 points made the difference in the second half for the Terrapins.

Fernando is nearly averaging a double-double (14.2 points and 9.4 rebounds) for the season while facing double teaming from each of Maryland’s opponents.  In the upcoming early conference season stretch, the Terps face 4 B1G opponents in the next 10 days.  Nebraska (Jan 2), Rutgers away on Jan. 5 and Minneapolis away on Jan. 8 before returning home on Jan. 11 for a date with Indiana.
