Update: Man Suspected in Germantown Killing Shoots Self During Arrest

Update, Wednesday: Montgomery County police said Valentino Pritchett, 18, shot himself as officers tried to arrest him for the Oct. 23 killing of 20-year-old Stephen Frazier of Germantown.

Pritchett, of an unconfirmed address, was developed as a suspect during the investigation, police said.

About 7 p.m. Tuesday, officers found Pritchett traveling in a vehicle in the area of Great Seneca Highway and Mateny Road in Germantown.  As officers approached the car in an attempt to arrest Pritchett, he shot himself, police said.

Officers rendered first aid and called for the assistance of Fire & Rescue personnel.  Pritchett was declared dead at the scene, police said.

Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this homicide.

Update, 11:15 p.m.: In a Twitter message, Montgomery County police said a man fatally shot himself as officers tried to arrest him for the death of Stephen Frazier.


Update, 2:50 p.m.: The victim has been identified as 20-year-old Stephen Alexander Frazier of Germantown, Montgomery County police said.


Original post: Montgomery County police officers are investigating the death of a man that occurred Tuesday morning in Germantown as a homicide.

According to police,  an assault call was dispatched shortly before 12:32 a.m. at a residence in the 12900 block of Churchill Ridge Circle.

First responders located a 20-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound outside the residence. The man was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said.

The police will release the victim’s name after his family has been notified.
