Riemer Talks Fiscal Issues (Video)

As the Montgomery County Council prepares for County Executive Ike Leggett’s savings plan, Council President Hans Riemer said he didn’t believe the shortfall in revenue was based on the county’s wealthy “exporting” their income to lower tax states.

“That would not be something that would have happened abruptly,” he said. “This was a real variation that seemed to be a moment in time variation.”

Leggett has asked county departments to present to him 2 percent cuts. He will present the cuts when the council returns from its holiday break in January.
