1. Solar Canopy Installation: Dozens of trees are coming down outside the Public Safety Headquarters building in Gaithersburg to make room for a new microgrid project that is designed to ensure the resiliency of critical public services during power outages. The project design includes two megawatts of solar photovoltaic canopies mounted over the parking lot.
2. Court Watch: Montgomery County Circuit Judge Robert Greenberg will succeed Judge John Debelius III as administrative judge for the 6th Judicial Circuit today. Debelius is retiring.
3. On Recess: There is no County Council meeting today. The Montgomery County Council is on recess until Sept. 12.
4. Flood Waters: Rock Creek Regional Park is open but the water levels of Lake Needwood and Lake Frank remain elevated following last week’s heavy rains. Parks officials are urging hikers to use caution because several trails and pedestrian bridges remain flooded at the park.
5. National Night Out: Police are celebrating National Night Out at dozens of neighborhoods around Montgomery County this evening.
