Here are five things to know today, June 12, in Montgomery County:

1. Scorcher: Temperatures are expected to be in the 90’s again today. Montgomery County officials are advising residents to take protective measures.

2. Cold Case: Montgomery County police officers are expected to release some new information about an unsolved homicide that dates back to 1992.

3. Berliner Briefing: The Montgomery County Council is back in session this week after a short break. County Council President Roger Berliner is scheduled to meet with reporters at 11:30 am. to discuss some of the key issues coming up before the Council and its committees this summer.

4. Commencement Ceremony: It’s graduation day for seniors at Watkins Mill High School. Congratulations to the Class of 2017!

5. Film Series: The Monday night Film Series is back at the Robert Parilla Performing Arts Center at Montgomery College. The series explores the 1960s. On the screen tonight: The Virgin Spring.
