BlackRock Center Honors GGCC Executive Director Marilyn Balcombe With Rocky Award

Marilyn Balcombe

Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce’s (GGCC) Executive Director Marilyn Balcombe was honored with the Rocky Award on Friday, May 5 from BlackRock Center for the Arts.

BlackRock has been near and dear to my heart since we opened 15 years ago. I was the Executive Director through the building and opening of the Center. I have also spent many years on the Board, including several years as Chair. BlackRock is a great asset to Montgomery County; providing a professional art center in Germantown. Between the gallery, the performing arts, the classes and the beautiful building, there is something for everyone at BlackRock”, said Balcombe.

The Rocky Award is a special award given to a member of the BlackRock community who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to BlackRock’s mission of providing high quality arts and culture experiences to the diverse populations of upper Montgomery County. It is not made every year, but only when BlackRock’s Board seeks to recognize an individual who exhibits an unwavering, long term commitment to the ideals BlackRock was built upon – those of artistic excellence, access for people of all ages, ethnicity and economic backgrounds, and a commitment to enhancing the vibrancy and cultural diversity of the region.

The GGCC is active in providing business-to-business networking opportunities throughout the year: a collective voice in local, regional, and state legislative affairs, professional development opportunities and other services that enhance the business environment.

The GGCC is located at 910 Clopper Road, Suite 205N, Gaithersburg. To learn more about the GGCC visit us at www.ggchamber.org.
