12 p.m. – 4 p.m. The Move More Montgomery Festival is the culminating event of the Move More Montgomery 100 Miler Challenge and is open to the public. All ages are welcome. This field day type festival features a community walk, sport and fitness demos, active performances and mini-classes, interactive health and wellness booths and the Fido Fitness Arena (for our four-legged family members). Participants are encouraged to be active by completing vendor activities such as health screenings, fitness games and activities, and many others to earn tickets to be entered the Move More Montgomery Festival Raffle. May 13: Mallows Bay Canoe and Kayak Trip

9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Join us for a short paddle to Mallows Bay a proposed marine sanctuary on the Potomac River. This area contains hundreds of old shipwrecks, many of which are visible from a boat. The wrecks have created a unique ecosystem and are home to eagles, herons, ospreys, egrets and hawks. Bring a lunch, plenty of water, wear water shoes, and dress for the weather. This trip is for individuals with disabilities, their friends and family members. Transportation will be provided by a county van from our office. Canoes, kayaks and equipment are provided. May 13: Lifeguard Training Review

Students looking to renew their lifeguard certification are elegible to do a blended learning review class provided that their certification is still current or recently expired. Students will receive a link to the blended learning material shortly after registration. This course work will require a 4-5 hour of learning prior to the class date. There is a $35 fee paid directly to the Red Cross to access the online material. This fee is in addition to the $125 paid at the time of registration for the skill evaluation session. Students should bring their on-line completion certificate to class. Failure to complete the on-line portion prior to the skill session will result in the student being unable to complete their certification renewal. Students will receive their e-cert directly from the Red Cross usually within seven days of the class completion. Register at ActiveMONTGOMERY.org under activity #25083.

This dinner will serve both vegetarians and omnivores. A Tuscan salad makes use of fava and cranberry beans paired with large shrimp to create harmonious favors, colors and textures. Next, we will prepare a Roman spinach pasta dish with fresh mushroom tomato sauce. Adding savory roasted turkey meatballs to the plate will satisfy omnivorous dinners. As a finishing touch, we will enjoy baked stuffed peaches. A wine paired with the entrée will be served with dinner. This class features take-home recipes as well as plenty to eat, so bring your appetite. A $25 food fee is payable to the instructor at class time.
