UPDATED: Police Investigate Fatal Collision in Chevy Chase
UPDATED Montgomery County police officers are investigating a fatal collision involving a motorcyclist that occurred shortly before 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning at Connecticut Avenue and Thornapple Street.
According to police, the preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of a 2004 GMC Yukon was making a left turn from southbound Connecticut Avenue onto eastbound Thornapple Street and the operator of a 2008 Triumph Bonneville motorcycle was traveling northbound on Connecticut Avenue approaching Thornapple Street.
For reasons still under investigation, police said the Triumph motorcycle and the Yukon collided in the intersection.
Police have identified the motorcyclist as 24-year-old Dean Michael Rusciolelli, age 24, of Virginia. According to police, Rusciolelli was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
The driver of the Yukon was not injured in the collision, police said.
