Tipo’s Toybox to Close

Tipo’s Toybox, a children’s toy store in the Kentlands, will be closing in a couple of weeks, owner Lew Tipograph said Monday.

“We hoped it would be a community store, but that just didn’t quite work out,” Tipograph said.

The store is at 724 Center Point Way, Gaithersburg. Tipo blamed the closing on poor business.

“I guess people are shopping on line now,” he said.

Tipo owns the store with his wife, Sandi, a former teacher. The store has two other employees. Tipo’s Toybox opened about three years ago, Tipo said. He said they didn’t made plans for after the store closes.

For now the store has a 30 percent off sale, he said.
