Gaithersburg Ranked Among the 50 Best Cities to Live in America by 24/7 Wall St.

Gaithersburg City Hall SignThe City of Gaithersburg is listed as one of the 50 best cities to live in America according to financial news and opinion website 24/7 Wall St., ranking 23rd.

According to the 24/7 Wall St. website, data on  550 U.S. cities with populations of 65,000 or more was reviewed based off information from the U.S. Census Bureau. The site based their rankings off a range of variables including;  crime rates, employment growth, access to restaurants and attractions, educational attainment, and housing affordability.

The website noted that Gaithersburg’s concentration of restaurants in twice as high than it is nationwide, and the concentration of fitness and exercise centers is three times as high. Gaithersburg also has a population of  67,445, a median home value of $356,800, poverty rate of 8.2 percent, and 52.4 percent of the population has at least bachelor’s degree, the website stated.

“It’s always nice when analytics substantiate what we already know about our dynamic and diverse community,” Gaithersburg Mayor Jud Ashman stated in a news release. “Wonderfully situated near the nation’s capital, but with a tight knit community that preserves the best qualities of a small town, Gaithersburg presents great opportunities for education, employment, recreation, and commerce. It’s a welcoming place to live,” he said.
