MC 311 Extends Hours in August to Assist Commuters (VIDEO)
Montgomery County officials are extending the operational hours of MC311, the county’s informational call center, in August.
From Aug. 1 – 18, MC311 call takers will be available from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. to help commuters navigate the changes in Metro’s mass transit schedules.
According to Metro officials, Safe Track Surge #6 occurs from Aug. 1 – 7, and Red Line trains will continuously single track in both directions between the Takoma Park and Silver Spring stations causing major disruptions throughout the Red Line. Surge #7 takes place from Aug. 9 – 18 and Red Line trains will single track between the Twinbrook and Shady Grove stations. With only one third of regular service available during peak hours, commuters are urged to find alternatives.
MC311 representatives will be able to answer commuters’ questions about the additional resources and alternatives that MCDOT is providing during the surges.
Local officials held a news conference on July 27 to discuss the impact of the Safe Track repairs on the Red Line.
