Boyds Man Dies after ATV Collision in Sugarland

mc police car for slider 450x280A Boyds man has died from his injuries after he was involved in an ATV collision on Monday in the Sugarland area of Montgomery County, according to local authorities.

It happened shortly after 3 p.m. on Feb. 29 at the intersection of Whites Ferry Road and Sugarland Road.

Police said the preliminary investigation indicates that a 2002 Lexus IS300 was traveling eastbound on Whites Ferry Road. Police said a 2003 Honda Rincon four-wheeler ATV was traveling northbound on Sugarland Road when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle and the ATV collided.

The driver of the ATV is identified by police as 26-year-old Mark Douglas Hutchinson. Police said investigators do not believe Hutchinson was wearing a helmut.

According to police, the driver of the Lexus, a 19-year-old Germantown resident, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the circumstances surrounding this collision remain under investigation. Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed this fatal collision to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240.773. 6620. Callers may remain anonymous.
