1. The Montgomery County Council’s Health and Human Services (HHS) Committee, Education Committee and  Public Safety Committee will hold a joint worksession on the impact of children fleeing from violence on the County today at 2 p.m. The worksession will be live-streamed on the County Council’s website.

2. Montgomery College is hosting a discussion on the legacy of Malcolm X today at 2 p.m. at the Cultural Arts Center in Theater One on the Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus. The keynote speaker of the event is  lyasah Shabazz, daughter of Malcolm X.

3. The Montgomery County Council will hold the second part of its public hearing on County Executive Ike Leggett’s recommended FY 2017 budget and the FY2017-22 CIP. The hearing will be live-streamed on the County Council website.

4. The Montgomery County Board of Education approved a $2.5 billion Operating Budget request for fiscal year 2017.

5. Docs-In-Progress will screen the film “Doeville” at the Takoma Park Community Center tonight at 7:30 p.m. The event is free and will feature a Q and A session with director Kathryn Pasternak after the screening.
