Montgomery County Residents Required to Clear Sidewalks (PHOTO)

Blizzard_2 1-24-16 0023Now that snow cleanup is underway, Montgomery County officials are reminding residents to clear sidewalks.

According to the Montgomery County website; “Property owners are responsible for clearing their public sidewalks, driveways and entrances within 24 hours of the end of a snowstorm. All residents are strongly encouraged to be good neighbors by clearing the sidewalks in front of their homes, as well as assisting those who may not be physically able to do so.”

While the County continues to urge residents to start clearing pathways, officials also say “any enforcement for now of sidewalk snow removal will be reasonable and follow common sense.”

Residents of Takoma Park, City of Gaithersburg, and Rockville have different sidewalk shoveling regulations.

If you need assistance with shoveling, you can request help on the SnowCrew website.
