Kingsview Middle School Students Struck by Car (PHOTOS & VIDEO)

On Oct. 7, the day before International Walk to School Day, two Kingsview Middle School students were struck by a car as they walked to school in Germantown. It happened at the intersection of Kingsview Road and Clopper Road. Although their injuries were not serious, MyMCMedia’s Sonya Burke reports that local officials are not taking this incident lightly.

In an Oct. 7 letter to parents, Jimmy D’Andrea, the principal of Kingsview Middle School, said: “The students were in the crosswalk and had the right of way. Emergency responders and school staff members immediately responded to the scene. The students were transported to the hospital for evaluation and have been released with what appears to be minor injuries. A number of Kingsview students witnessed the accident or saw the emergency vehicles afterward. Administrators and counselors have met with students who witnessed the incident, and counselors will continue to be available throughout the coming days to talk to students. We are also working with the MCPS Department of Transportation to review the circumstances of the incident and to ensure that all students are able to travel safely to and from school. The Kingsview family wishes our students a speedy recovery.”
