Hoggle Family Calls for Amber Alert for Missing Children (PHOTOS & VIDEO)

UPDATED, Sept. 29, 6:30 p.m. – Catherine Hoggle, the Clarksburg mother charged in connection with her two toddlers’ disappearance, will likely get 30 more days of mental evaluation before having a bond review, as her family calls on Governor Martin O’Malley to activate an Amber Alert in the case.

According to Montgomery County State’s Attorney Office Spokesman Ramon Korionoff, her review has been delayed for “another 30 days of mental evaluation.” She was scheduled for a bond review, Tuesday at 1 p.m.

Hoggle is facing charges of obstruction and hindering, child neglect and detaining a child within the state. Police said the children were last known to be in the company of their mother, who has refused to tell police the children’s whereabouts. Catherine Hoggle was taken into custody on Sept. 12. Search teams so far have turned up no evidence of the children.

The family held a news conference Sept. 29 at the Maryland State Police Barracks off Montrose Road to make a direct and formal appeal to O’Malley to ask the Maryland State Police to issue what they call “a long overdue Amber Alert for the children.”

The family, in a letter to O’Malley, said they believe the alert would help “focus critical public attention on the missing children that could help bring Sarah and Jacob back home.”

A source inside O’Malley’s office said the state and county police agencies agrees that the Amber Alert system was not appropriate for this case because the Hoggle’s vehicle was already found

A statement from O’Malley’s press office read: “Our deepest sympathies go out to the family of the missing children and all those involved in this tragic situation. We commend law enforcement for their ceaseless efforts to locate Sarah and Jacob, and will continue to provide support and resources necessary to the search until this case is solved.”

The children’s father, Troy Turner, told MyMCMedia Monday, he attempted to talk to Hoggle over the weekend but that he was unable to visit her at the Jessup Correctional Institute because her mental evaluation was not yet completed.
