Police are Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Rockville

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred on Aug. 3rd in Rockville.

Police said the pedestrian, identified as Roberto Flores, 21, died from his injuries on Aug. 4 at Shady Grove Hospital.

According to a police account, on Sunday, August 3, at 11:38 p.m., 1st District officers, Rockville City Police, and Fire/Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of First Street and Maple Avenue for a report of a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle. Preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian had been crossing First Street at the intersection of Maple Avenue. While crossing the roadway, police said the pedestrian was struck by a Toyota Tacoma that was traveling westbound on First Street.  Police said the driver of the Toyota Tacoma remained on the scene.

The driver of the Toyota Tacoma has been identified by police as Robert Martin, age 36, of the 11500 block of Fenchurch Court in Germantown. He was not injured.
