3rd Round at TPC Potomac – A Hot One!
Third round play of the Quicken Loans National began at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm early on Saturday with the weather a concern and the leaders scrambling.
After two rounds it was David Lingmerth at 10 under par with Geoff Ogilvy at 9 under. By mid afternoon a typical mid-Atlantic thunderstorm blew through Potomac delaying play till about 4:30 p.m. at the time of this report. By the time play was halted Lingmerth dropped 2 strokes but held the lead, and American Daniel Summerhays was in pursuit at 7 under while Ogilvy had dropped to 6 under.
Narrow fairways and hilling approaches had begun to take a toll on the PGA players. Fan favorites Billy Hurley III was 6 over par and in the clubhouse before the rain delay as was Richie Fowler who ended the round with a 2 under 70 to settle at even par for the 3 days at TPC Potomac.
