Your Help Feeds a Community
During the spring and early summer, the non-perishable donations slow down here at Manna Food Center. In the high holiday times, so many think of their hungry neighbors and drop off non-perishable items at our doors, but after the holidays, people tend to forget that there is still hunger in Montgomery County. In April alone, we served over 4,000 people here with fresh and canned items. From one glance at our shelves, you can tell we’re running low on these staple items.
Luckily, this is also the time of year when farmers’ markets ramp up, and fresh produce starts appearing here at Manna. This week, we’re flush with carrots, asparagus, and cucumbers. Soon, tomatoes and more will start to fill our fresh, open boxes.
Despite this bounty, we still need your help! Non-perishable items are the staple of our boxes, and we need to keep up with the increased demand. Each box we pack and give out is over 70 pounds of fresh and non-perishable items. Manna always needs your help to fill our shelves, especially in these slower times. You can help by delivering cans of food here or by holding a food drive in your community. Check out our website, www.mannafood.org, or email us at fooddrive@mannafood.org for more information. We rely on your generosity to help feed the community!
