Working Group Meets over Future of Confederate Statue

Confederate Soldier Statue 450x280A working group comprised of six private citizens is making recommendations to the county council over the future of the controversial Confederate soldier statue in Rockville.

The group represents a variety of opinions on the statue and consists of county historians and representatives from NAACP and other civic organizations.

They met on Monday afternoon to discuss options for the statue, which is slated to be removed from the grounds of the Red Brick Courthouse in Rockville.  The working group did not include county council members.

Recommendations could come by the end of the week.
