Worker Killed at Tunnel Project in Bethesda

A Charles County man died Friday afternoon at a worksite in Bethesda, Montgomery County police said.

Bryan Frederick McGinn, 43, of Purcell Road in Port Tobacco, was killed about 1:30 p.m. as he was dismantling a pressurized tank, police said. For some reason, he was struck by a pipe which had been affixed to the tank, police said. He was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

The construction site is at 8751 Rockville Pike, where crews are building a tunnel connecting the Medical Center Metro Station and the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

The Maryland Occupational Safety and Health Department is assisting in the ongoing investigation.
