It’s an event that organizers say attracts hundreds of people including visitors from neighboring counties and states.

The Montgomery County Commission for Women will host its 37th Annual Women’s Legislative Briefing on Jan. 29 at the University at Shady Grove.

“This event is an opportunity for people to learn about policy that pertains to women,” said Jodi Finkelstein, executive director, Montgomery County Commission for Women.

Finkelstein said everyone, including men and teenagers, are invited to attend.

This year’s theme is “New Visions, New Voices. Building Our Future Together.”

Topics up for discussion include: Economic Justice and Opportunity; Health Care Justice and Equality; Nuts and Bolts of Creating Change in Communities; Safety and Justice for Women; Law Enforcement in our Community; and Challenges and Triumphs of Women in Non-Traditional Fields.

New to the briefing will be a workshop on ways women can fill the gap between law enforcement and the community, according to Finkelstein.

Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 at the door.

The event is scheduled from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m.
