Woman Dies from Car Wreck in March

A 71-year-old Beltsville woman died Saturday from a wreck that occurred in March, Montgomery County police said in a statement released Wednesday.

The woman, Augustina Okwadi, was a passenger in a 2005 Toyota Corolla, driven by Regina Ablorh, 50, also of Beltsville, police said.

Sometime after 3:30 p.m. March 4, a 2003 Volvo XC90 hit the Toyota as it was making a left turn from northbound Cherry Hill Road on to Prosperity Drive, police said. The Volvo was driving southbound on Cherry Hill Road, police said.

After the wreck, Okwadi and Ablorh were hospitalized.

The driver of the Volvo is identified as Herbert Oswaldo Baires Chavez, 25, of College Park.  Chavez was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
