With Recent Spike in COVID-19 Cases County Leaders Stress Importance of Vaccine

Montgomery County, along with other jurisdictions across the nation, has seen an uptick in the daily toll of COVID-19 cases. Health officials say the majority of the cases are among unvaccinated residents.

County leaders continue to ramp up vaccination efforts to protect those who are vulnerable.

“The good news is that so many of our folks are vaccinated that there aren’t a lot of places for this virus to go. The bad news is children under 12 aren’t vaccinated; we have a lot of people with one vaccination,” said Elrich during his weekly virtual media briefing on Wednesday.

Elrich and local health officials explain data behind the spike in local COVID-19 cases and how the vaccine helps.
